JAN VAN HEE has worked with all ages and enjoys every facet of the ministry that God has given her, but she has always had a special burden and love for teenagers.

Saved as a teen herself, she began teaching teen girls' Sunday School when she was in college. She started a club for young women, which she has continued in each church in which she and her husband have been called to minister. These clubs have proven to be a profitable ministry in reaching young women as they learn everything from table manners to personal appearance to community service, all from a Biblical perspective.

Jan is an accomplished conference speaker, and is gifted in dramatic interpretation. Her writing touches hearts for God through programs, skits, poems, and articles. She authored a Sunday School curriculum for young women, and for many years, wrote the closing program for Neighborhood Bible Time.

Jan graduated from Bob Jones University with a B.A. in Religion, a Proficiency in Church Ministries, and a minor in Foreign Language Studies. She and her pastor husband live in Rock Springs, Wyoming and have two children and three grandchildren.

Old Schoolhouse Review

Although we had already discussed some of these ideas with our daughter, her new resolve came from making the Scriptures her own through her use of Think on These Things. This is only one instance in which I witnessed her spiritual growth as a result of using this devotional guide.

This devotional guide is very appealing to the eye, with eloquent artwork and a feminine font style and size. Each Scripture reference is presented in the King James Version. The devotional is spiral-bound, which makes it easy to use and write one's reflections. Retail pricing for this guide is $7.95, making it also a very viable option for any homeschool group to use in a Christian character class for young ladies.

Van Hee does a remarkable job of exemplifying this scripture in the devotions in this book. She provides young ladies with encouragement and confidence in becoming ladies of great beauty from the inside out.

What Others Are Saying About Jan Van Hee & Her Teen Devotional

". . . a great devotional. I really liked that it sums up what each devotional is about in TODAY'S PRAISE and TODAY'S PRAYER. I especially like the projects at the end of each devotional, it challenges you to apply what you learned: 'be a hearer of the word and not a doer only'."  Marissa, Age 16

"I have made Think on These Things available to some teen girls I was doing a Bible study with in California and to some girls from camp. It is helpful for me to have something to give to girls that I know are seeking to grow and are desiring to know more."
Kristina Murdock, Christian School Teacher and Camp Counselor

". . . a wonderful way for teens to practically incorporate short pieces of powerful scripture into their daily lives.  We live in such a negative society surrounded by criticism.  It is very important to learn the habit of praise.  Each devotion has "Today's Praise" offering a way of thanking and praising God that goes along with that day's devotion.  Jan Van Hee knows teens.  She has taken that knowledge and directed these devotions to areas of struggle every teen faces.  Dress, music, thought life and relationships are just a few.
Growing up with Mrs. Van Hee as my Sunday School teacher was an awesome privilege.  The lessons I learned from her have served me well my whole life. Having this devotional in my hands is like handing all of that over to my daughters in a nutshell." Angela Douglas

"Reading and applying the book Think on These Things has been a blessing to me.  Personally, it has been a great reminder of mentoring that my husband & I received under the ministry of Brother Ron & Jan Van Hee.  My privilege to teach Junior & Senior High young ladies these principles is rewarding.  I have also used the book for a Bible study with some dear folks at a nursing home.  It is appropriate for any age.  We all need to be reminded to think right, and this book is a great daily reminder. Thanks for the encouragement, Jan!  Again!"  Betty Tucker

"What a devotional!!  I love the way that it seems to be talking to the reader, making her feel special (for she is), but challenging her, too.  I recommend this devotional not just for teen girls but also for babes in Christ."   Wanda Petty, Mother

" . . . a much-needed, Scripturally sound devotional book for young ladies. The book is thought-provoking and challenges young ladies to make right choices—God-honoring choices.  Our supply of these books in our campus bookstore sold out immediately!" Joyce Comfort

"This book was very useful to me as a teenager as it focused on important topics in a teenage girl's life. The devotional part was easy to understand and was easily applied to every day life. The section where it had a place for you to praise and pray to God for the topic that was just read made the daily topics come alive. But the most challenging part of the devotional was the project. This section made me get out of my comfort zone and to actually do something, and by doing those projects I got a bigger and realer knowledge of my God." Lauren Sparkman, High School Student

"AS A TEEN trying to live for God, there are things I struggle with and need to work on in my spiritual life.  Think On These Things has helped me in so many ways!  I would encourage every teen girl to read it.  The setup of the book makes it easy to read and the journal pages challenge the reader to praise God and actively apply the lesson, which are two things that can be easy to overlook.

"The book doesn't get old.  The truths are timeless and even after having finished reading it and filling up the journal pages, I've been able to go back through it and learn even more important lessons.  The entire book tactfully but directly presents God's truth in areas that most of us teen girls struggle with--beauty, having a right attitude, doing God's will, choosing friends, etc.  My entire life and my walk with God have been challenged by Think On These Things.  It has helped me to see sins in my life and offered practical and Scriptural ways to correct them."  Hannah Romero

"When my grandma first gave me her book, I was so excited! I have really enjoyed reading it. It's almost as if my grandma is sitting in the room teaching me. And Grandma is a great teacher!"

I have a lot of health problems, some of which make it difficult for me to read and study the Bible.  I found that reading a section of a devotional book that uses lots of Scripture in the lessons is much easier for me to grasp.  Grandma's book is like this.  I learn something every time I open it.  One of my favorite lessons was "A Merry Heart."  Being sick all the time is not pleasant and can often affect my attitude during the day—which in turn can affect the rest of my family.  The lesson pointed out that I need to remember that my attitudes affect others and sometimes my own health.  Now I am trying to remember what God has done for me and to be more grateful to Him.  This way of thinking has made a huge difference in my life spiritually, mentally and emotionally."

This devotional is an excellent way to make sure familiar truths are rooted in your heart and mind, as well as adding new lessons that daughters of God ought to know.  I recommend "Think On These Things" to any Christian lady-- teenager or adult."  Bethany N. Wallace

Challenging Thoughts for Teen Girls

31 Things All Girls Need to Consider As They Strive for True Beauty & Happiness

God has a plan for our lives, a beautiful will for how we should live, but finding His will is not something that just happens. As His Word takes root inwardly, we can live it outwardly.

Focusing on Philippians 4:8, this devotional offers hope for teen girls to attain joy and contentment in their lives. “It’s Not Fair,” “The High Cost of Complaining,” and “Actions Speak Louder Than Words" are some of the subjects young women are encouraged to consider as they seek to live according to Biblical principles.

The corresponding journal pages invite practical application for a close walk with the Lord, even in the midst of difficult teen years.
